Robin is a licensed clinical psychologist and licensed clinical social worker. For the past 20 years, she has focused on helping people with OCD and anxiety problems. In 1999, she created and co-owned the first anxiety treatment center in Northern California. It used cutting-edge therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure and response prevention.
The Anxiety Treatment Center, Inc. grew when Dr. Zasio decided to expand and develop it in 2005. As her business grew quickly, she opened The Cognitive Behavior Therapy Center and The Compulsive Hoarding Center in Sacramento, CA. She now owns and runs all three of them. Dr. Zasio still has a private office where she treats individuals, groups, and families. She also supervises interns who are learning how to treat anxiety disorders. From 2003 to 2005, Dr. Zasio was President of the Sacramento Valley Psychological Association.
She is now a Board Member at Large. Zasio is also on the Scientific Advisory Board, the Clinical Advisory Board, and the Speakers Bureau for the International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Foundation (IOCDF). She also travels the country teaching clinicians how to treat anxiety disorders as a faculty member for their Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI). In 2010, she started the OCD Sacramento Foundation, which is an affiliate office of the IOCDF. The goal was to give people in the community who might not have the money or other resources to get knowledge or treatment more options.
The IOCDF asked her to host the First Annual 1 Million Steps for OCD Walk in Sacramento in 2014. The goal of the walk was to raise knowledge about OCD and reduce the stigma that surrounds it. The Sacramento Chapter of the National Alliance of the Mentally Ill (NAMI) has Dr. Zasio on their Advisory Board, and she writes a “Doctor’s Column” for their monthly magazine. The International OCD Foundation, the American Psychological Association, the Trichotillomania Learning Center, and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies are all groups that she belongs to. Dr. Zasio only works out of the office in Sacramento.
The hit A&E show “Hoarders” has nominated Dr. Zasio for an Emmy. She is also the host of Animal Planet’s “My Extreme Animal Phobia” and the author of “THE HOARDER IN YOU: How to Live a Happier, Healthier, Uncluttered Life.” Her talk show, “The Dr. Robin Zasio Show” on AM 1380 at 10 a.m. PST, is called “Mental Health Matters.” Many shows and radio stations have talked about Dr. Zasio, including The Today Show, Anderson Cooper, Fox News New York, Good Day Sacramento, The Katie Couric Show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, NPR Radio, Dateline on NBC, HLN, Nake Berkus, SiriusXM, and many more.
