Doug Kammerer is an American eight-time Emmy-winning meteorologist working for NBC 4 as the chief meteorologist and he can be seen on weekdays at 4, 5, 6, and 11 pm. He can also be heard broadcasting the weather on 103.5 WTOP Radio. In addition, he joined the NBC 4 team in 2010.
Washington, D.C is his birth home and he was brought up in Northern Virginia. Doug attended Herndon High School and Herndon Middle School in addition to also studying at the University of Northern Colorado where he earned a degree in Meteorology. He was awarded by the American Meteorological Society (AMS) its Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal and the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented him with eight Emmy awards.
In addition, Kammerer has forecasted and studied weather in; Macon, Georgia, Orlando, and Jacksonville. He has also worked in Philadelphia for seven years at WCAU-TV, KYW-TV, WPHL-TV, and The CW Philly. Over the years, Doug has reported from the eye of Hurricane Frances for NBC News and covered the elements all around the country firsthand, trekking to the top of New Hampshire’s Mt. Washington.
