Dina Kupfer is an American anchor and reporter working for CBS13 as a morning anchor and reporter from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. alongside Dominic Garcia, on Good Day from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the CBS13 News at Noon. She joined the CBS13 news team in 2017, after previously working for KXTV ABC10.
Kupfer attended McQueen High School and went to the University of Oregon, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism. She began her career as a sports anchor at KRNV in Reno, Nevada, where she was born and raised. She conducted a weekly high school sports show and chronicled Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s college years. The country was shocked by the infamous Reno Air Races disaster on September 16, 2011. After being dispatched to the hospital to cover the triage center, Dina saw patients arriving one by one, bleeding and shock, an experience that had a profound effect on Dina and motivated her to transition from the sports office to the newsroom to start her reporting career. Dina carried on enhancing her brand of adaptability from that point on.
From Nevada, Dina relocated to the Sacramento, California area, in 2012, where she anchored the weekday morning newscasts at KXTV ABC10. There, she co-hosted the Facebook Live program “Extra Shot,” which aired on ABC10’s Facebook page on weekdays at 8:15 AM. She discussed the hottest subjects of the day and used information created by users to keep the dialogue flowing. She also used Facetime and Skype to bring in specialists on a range of topics.
