Dina Bair Biography
Dina Bair is an American Emmy-winning anchor and reporter working for WGN-TV as a midday news anchor and medical reporter. She joined the WGN-TV team in September 1994, as a general assignment reporter.
Dina Bair Career
The East Coast is Bair’s native home and she attended Northwestern University in Evanston where she earned a Bachelor of Science in radio and television film, Prior to joining WGN-TV, she worked at CLTV in Oak Brook where she served as an anchor and reporter. Before that, she worked as an anchor, reporter, and producer at WHOI-TV in Peoria. Bair has also served as a field reporter at WMAQ-TV in Chicago.
Dina traveled to Italy in 2013, where she covered the election of the new Pope while reporting live from Vatican City. Over the years, she has received many awards including; a Peter Lisagor award from the Society of Professional Journalists, nine Emmy awards, and many Associated Press awards for both anchoring and reporting. In addition, for the “Cancer Issues” seminar she held in Washington D.C, the National Press Foundation named her as a Fellow.
Bair spent a month at Children’s Memorial Hospital where she reported inside the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. While working at WGN, she serves as a medical reporter for the “Medical Watch” segments that air at Midday News, WGN News at Nine, and WGN Evening News. From December 1994 to December 1999, Dina served as a Weekend Morning news anchor at WGN-TV.
Furthermore, Dina is a founding Board member of the breast cancer charity organization, One in a Million: Dancing With Chicago Celebrities. She is also the leader of a media team that is dedicated to raising funds for charity. In addition, she is actively involved with; Respiratory Health Association, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the American Cancer Society, The National Italian American Foundation, LUNGevity, and is on the Advisory Board for Saleh Freedo. During her downtime, she enjoys lifting weights, competitive ballroom dancing, boxing, and running.
