Derek Forrest is an American sports director and host working at DC News Now where he serves as sports director. He joined the DC News Now team in April 2022, and he also serves as the host of CrossFit Games Host.

Forrest has worked in the television market for almost twenty years. He started his career at ESPN where he began by serving as a producer and later moved up the ranks along the way. He has also covered the Final Fours, the MLB All-Star game, high school state championships, NFL Draft, and the NBA All-Star game. In addition, Brooklyn, New York is his native home and in 1995, he joined New Hampton School where he graduated in 1999. Later on, he joined Stonehill College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communications in 2003.

After he left the ESPN team, he worked in Hazard, Kentucky for years before he decided to relocate to Louisville where he covered five Kentucky Derbys. While he was in Louisville, he covered the most impactful story which was The death of Muhammad Ali. Furthermore, he later relocated to Cincinnati Ohio, and Cleveland, Ohio. During his leisure time, he enjoys working out, hosting CrossFit games, and spending ample time with his family.
