Dennis Valera is an American reporter working for WJZ-TV as a general assignment reporter. He joined the WJZ-TV team in December 2022, after previously working for WFSB TV.
The Chicagoland area is where Valera was born and brought up. He attended Columbia College Chicago where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 2014. Prior to graduating, Dennis interned at Chicago’s WBBM-TV, WJZ’s sister station where he was a special project intern. He also interned at NBC News where he worked under producers Lisa Capitanini and Katy Smyser.
Over the years, Dennis has told stories all over the country and he has reported for CBS affiliates in Idaho, Connecticut, and California. Not long ago, Valera worked for WFSB-TV where he served as the Waterbury Bureau Chief. While he was at WFSB-TV, he covered the surrounding towns and the Brass City, In addition, number of Valera’s strongest reporting involved covering Alex Jones’s second defamation trial. In the trial the judge and jury ruled in favour of the families of Sandy Hook shooting victims granting them over $1 billion in damages. During his spare time, he nejoys hanging out at a coffee shop, hiking, eating everything that Baltimore has to offer, trying out new restaurants or recipe in his kitchen.
