Centofanti spent her early childhood days in Hudson, Ohio and while she was in the 8th grade, her family relocated to a suburb of Cincinnati. She gained interest in journalism after taking part in a speech class at her school. Later on, she joined Miami University where she studied broadcast journalism and graduated proudly. In addition, Deena began her career in 1990, at WSYX in Columbus, Ohio where she served as a production assistant.
In addition, she later secured an on-air morning show anchoring role on a radio station in Steubenville, Ohio in 1993.
