Deborah Roberts Biography
Deborah Roberts is an American anchor working for ABC as a Co-anchor. She joined the ABC News team in 1995, after previously working for NBC as a News Correspondent.
Roberts started working at a local television station in 1982, WTVM in Columbus, Georgia. She later went on to work for a local television station in Knoxville, Tennessee, WBIR. Deborah worked as the bureau chief, a NASA field reporter, and a co-anchor of the weekend news at Orlando, Florida’s WFTV from 1987 until 1990. Roberts began her career with NBC News in 1990 as a general assignment reporter and went on to work as a correspondent for the newsmagazine show Dateline NBC.
In 1995, Roberts made the transition to ABC News, where she worked as an anchor for Good Morning America, the morning news program, and as a correspondent for the newsmagazine show 20/20. She appeared as a guest host on ABC Daytime’s discussion show The View in July and September of 2006. For her reporting, Roberts has received a Clarion Award and an Emmy Award. Roberts has made contributions to The Katie Couric Show, Primetime, Good Morning America, Nightline, and other networks. On the cable and satellite television network Lifetime Television, Roberts is the host of Lifetime Live.
In 1982, she earned a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Georgia’s Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Roberts’ quick rise to prominence as a journalist earned her the University of Georgia Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1992.
