Debby Knox is an American Emmy-winning anchor working for CBS4 as a weekday evening anchor. Prior to joining CBS4, she worked at WISH-TV for 30 years.
Debby Knox Career
Knox has served as an anchor in Indiana for over 3o years. Prior to joining CBS4, she worked for WISH-TV as a lead anchor during the 5 pm, 6 pm, and 11 pm newscasts. When she joined WISH-TV, she served as the noon anchor and later on, she was promoted to the early morning anchor. Later in November 2013, Debby left WISH-TV after having worked at the station for 33 years.
While Knox worked for WISH-TV, she did many reports while mainly focusing on health and medical technology. She has also had r one-on-one interviews with prominent newsmakers such as; Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, and Secretaries of State Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright. She has also had the privilege to interview former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev. In addition, Knox has had interviews with; Nobel Scientist Dr. James Watson, Richard Lugar, Former First Lady Barbara Bush, Nobel Peace Prize Recipient Desmond Tutu, Senators Elizabeth Dole, Evan Bayh, Boston Celtics Coach Brad Stevens, Medal of Honor Recipient Sammy Davis, and authors, Kurt Vonnegut, jr, John Green and Anne Patchett.
Over the years, Debby has been honored with numerous awards and Emmy nominations including those from the National American Heart Association for a documentary on a heart transplant patient and the prestigious Society of Professional Journalists. In addition, she won Indiana State Medical Journalism Award, a coveted CASPAR, for an investigative series she did on the Indiana Blood Center. Knox has also won awards from United Press International and the Associated Press. She was the recipient of the Indiana Psychological Association’s Theodore Barrett Award.
Furthermore, six times, Debby has won the favorite female TV news anchor award awarded by the Indianapolis Woman Magazine. Not long ago, Knox was inducted into the Associated Press Broadcast Hall of Fame. She was appointed a Distinguished Hoosier in 2013 by Governor Mike Pence and was a 2014 honoree of the prestigious organization, Girls Inc.
Edwardsburg, Michigan was where Debby was brought up and in 1972, she was crowned Miss Blossomtime and Miss Edwardsburg. She attended Edwardsburg High School where she graduated proudly and later joined the University of Michigan. Furthermore, Knox documented her 60 pounds weight loss, she received positive attention and accolades in Central Indiana not long ago.
In addition, Debby is greatly involved in assisting the community, and alongside lead sports anchor, Anthony Calhoun, they raised tens of thousands of dollars for inner-city youth. She also supports; St. Richard’s School, where her children attended, Trinity Episcopal Church, the University of Michigan, Cathedral High School, Christal DeHaan’s Global Schools, Indianapolis, and Butler University. During her spare time, she enjoys reading a book, and skiing.
