Dawn Timmeney Biography
Dawn Timmeney is an American anchor and reporter working for FOX 29 as a general assignment reporter and weekend evening anchor. She joined the FOX 29 news team in January 2013, after previously working for NBC-10 in Philadelphia.
Timmeney attended Moravian Academy in Bethlehem, PA till she was in 10th grade. She then joined George School in Newtown where she studied for her last two years of high school as a boarding student. She later joined Emerson College in Boston where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and Broadcast Journalism.
While Timmeney worked at NBC-10 in Philadelphia, she earned an Emmy award for Outstanding Entertainment Broadcast. She also served as the host and co-producer of “Dawn’s Pet Project,” which is an informative and entertaining weekly show on animals that aired on NBC NonStop on Comcast. Prior to relocating to Philadelphia, Timmeney worked at WBRE-TV, the NBC affiliate in Wilkes-Barre, Philadelphia.
While she worked at WBRE-TV, she served as the 5 pm, 6 pm, and 11 pm news co-anchor and she earned an Emmy award for Best Newscast. She started her television career at WFMZ-TV in Allentown, Philadelphia where she served as an anchor and reporter for two years. Together with her husband, they founded the Max and Lorraine Foundation in 1993. The foundation is a non-profit that is devoted to assisting children who suffer from asthma. In association with the American Lung Association, they have established Camp Asthma Cadabra in the Pocono Mountains for children who have asthma.
Furthermore, she is an Honorary Board Member of the “Little Smiles” organization and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. She is also a great advocate for education and she is a previous member of the Board of Trustees for Community Partnership School. During her leisure time, she enjoys sailing in the Poconos in the summers and skiing during the winters.
