David Novarro Biography
David Novarro is an American Emmy Award-winning anchor working for WABC-TV as a noon and 4 pm newscast. He rejoined the WABC-TV team in December 2010.
Manhattan is David’s native home and he began her career as a college intern and he rose through the ranks to become a reporter. Not long after, he became a correspondent for the New Jersey Bureau, and later an anchor of the Eyewitness News Sunday Morning. In addition, while working on Eyewitness News, Novarro has covered notable stories such as; the first World Trade Center attack, landing a rare interview with blind Sheikh Omar Abdul-Rahman, the racial profiling case that led to the overhaul of the New Jersey State Police Department, convicted mastermind of the bombing, and terror cells operating in New York City and New Jersey.
Furthermore, David reported on drug dealers in a Brooklyn apartment building who had held hostage their tenants and turned their homes into a crack houses. For reporting on that incident, Novarro received an Emmy award. He also assisted in growing the station’s community affairs show known as Tiempo. The show is devoted to issues of interest to the Hispanic community to air in New York City. In addition, David relocated to Chicago in 2000, and he joined WFLD-TV as a morning anchor.
After having served as a morning anchor at WFLD-TV for 7 years, in 2007, he anchored the station’s 10 pm newscast. While he worked in Chicago, he reported on Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, while profiling the then Senator and his family at their home. During Obama’s historic election night victory, David anchored live from Grant Park. In a Chicago radio poll, Novarro was voted as the Best Newscaster in 2010. Not long after, he returned to his broadcast journalism roots in New York. Furthermore, he attended New York University where he graduated proudly.
