David Muir Career

Muir worked as an anchor and reporter at Syracuse, New York’s WTVH-TV from 1994 to 2000. He received the highest accolades from the Radio-Television News Directors Association for his reporting from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Israel, and the Gaza Strip after Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated in 1995. Muir received awards from the Associated Press for Best Television Interview and Best Enterprise Reporting. He worked as an anchor and reporter for Boston’s WCVB television from 2000 to 2003. For his work tracking down the hijackers responsible for the September 11, 2001 attacks, he was recognized with the National Headliner Award, the regional Edward R. Murrow Award, and other honors from the Associated Press. His reporting and news anchoring were acknowledged by the Associated Press as well.

Muir began working for ABC News in August 2003, initially as the anchor of the World News Now overnight newscast. Additionally, he was appointed host of World News This Morning (America This Morning), an early morning show on ABC News. Muir became the anchor of World News Saturday in June 2007. He co-anchored Primetime, a news magazine, in 2006 and appeared on the show occasionally after that. World News with David Muir was the name of the weekend newscast that Muir began anchoring in February 2012. A boost in the Saturday evening programs’ ratings has been tacitly attributed to Muir.
