Dave Fraser Biography
Dave Fraser is an American meteorologist working for FOX31 as a Chief Meteorologist on weekday evenings at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 9 p.m., 10 p.m., and 7 p.m. He joined the FOX31 news team in May 2001, after previously working for WXIX-TV.
Fraser earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. He also is a fully certified meteorologist having earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) distinction from the AMS and having met all specific educational and experience criteria. And, he also holds the Seal of Approval from the NWA.
With over 20 years of experience in forecasting, has received numerous honors including an Emmy, a Colorado Broadcasters Association award, and an AP News Best Weather designation. Major weather disasters that Dave has covered include the devastating Windsor and Holly tornadoes, the historic September 2013 floods, numerous wildfires, including the Hayman, Waldo Canyon, and the Black Forest, and the blizzards of 2003, 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2021.
Before coming to Denver, Dave worked as a meteorologist at WXIX-TV (FOX) & WLWT-TV ( NBC) in Cincinnati, OH, and network affiliates in Des Moines, IA, Sioux Falls, SD, and Austin, MN. In addition, Dave is a member of both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He enjoys visiting schools across the Front Range talking to Colorado students about his passion for meteorology and science.
