Darren Leeds Biography
Darren Leeds is an American meteorologist who is working at Newschannel 20. He serves as the evening meteorologist at Fox Illinois after joining the station in February 2022. Previously, he worked at KRCR-TV in Redding, California as a meteorologist.
In 2006, he attended Eastern Illinois University where he graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Geography and broadcast meteorology. He began working at KEV Blak llils as a meteorologist and reporter till January 2016. Later on, he joined Action News Now in Chico, California where he served as a meteorologist till July 2018. In addition, he has also worked at KRCR IN Redding, California as a meteorologist. He joined Fox Illinois, in Champaign, Illinois, United States in February 2022 as an evening meteorologist.
While he was in Northern California, he covered a number of the largest wildfires in the state’s history. Darren also extensively followed the Dixie Fire which burned over 1,500 square miles and destroyed a number of communities. In addition, his most memorable weather event in South Dakota was the Winter Storm Atlas in 2013 that dumped 3 feet of snow in South Dakota.
During his spare time, he enjoys playing hiking, kayaking, golfing, lacrosse, and exploring the area with his family. He is also a die-hard fan of the White Sox, Blackhawks, Bulls, and Bears.
