Dan Wells is an American anchor working for FOX19 WXIX as a morning anchor at 10 pm. He joined the FOX19 news team in 2008, after previously working for WJET.
Wells grew up in Pennsylvania and attended Clarion University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism/communications. During his first two years in Cincinnati, Dan covered a range of breaking and everyday news stories for FOX19 NOW. He also made a special series trip to Arizona/Mexico on border and immigration issues impacting life in the Tri-State. After that, he started working as an anchor and reporter for FOX19 NOW Morning News. In 2012, Dan was offered the chance to start the FOX19 NOW Weekend Morning News. After four years in March 2016, he was offered the chance to anchor the FOX19 NOW Weekday Morning News.
Prior to joining FOX 19, Wells served at WJET as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. In addition to his career, Dan worked at KNXV the ABC affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona as a general assignment reporter and it was there that his journalism career began. There, he worked in the news and production departments for four years. In high school, Dan first became desirous of working in the news industry. It was at WICU, the NBC affiliate in Erie, Pennsylvania, that developed his writing, news reporting, and television skills through a “school-to-work” program.
