Methuen, Massachusetts is where Roche was born and brought up. He attended North Andover High School where he graduated with a high school diploma. Later on, he joined Syracuse University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism in 1987. While working at WBZ-TV, he reports for “Patriots Gameday” and “Patriots All-Access.” In addition, he also served as the host of “Patriots 5th Quarter” post-game show.

In addition, Dan contributes to 98.5-FM The Sports Hub as a fill-in host and at WBZ Newsradio 1030AM. For his “Red Sox This Week,” a half-hour series on the Red Sox show that aired on myTV38 and WBZ-TV. He has also received two Emmy nominations in the category of Best Sports Reporter in New England. Before Dan joined WBZ-TV, he worked for WBZ Newsradio 1030AM where he served as a sports talk show host; anchor, and reporter for the station’s Boston Bruins game show.

In addition, Roche has also covered the Celtics 17th World Championship ride through Cleveland, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Detroit. While traveling with the Red Sox and Celtics, he has made three trips to the White House while reporting. Dan was on the ice interviewing players, coaches, and front office members following Game 7 in Vancouver. He also covered the Bruins’ run to their 2011 Stanley Cup title. Furthermore, Roche covered the Boston College Hockey team’s win during the NCAA Championship 01 in Albany, New York.

When Carlton Fisk and Carl Yastrzemski were enshrined into the Baseball Hall of Fame, Dan was present in Cooperstown, New York. Before Dennis Eckersley and Wade Boggs were inducted into the Hall of Fame, Roche was the only Boston TV reporter to tour the Hall. In March 2005, Roche covered the Congressional Steroids hearing. He also covered a special ceremony featuring President George W. Bush where Jackie Robinson was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
