Dallas Raines is an American meteorologist working for ABC 7 as the chief meteorologist and can be seen at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. He has been working at ABC 7 since July 1984.
The American Meteorological Society awarded Raines its Seal of Approval and he has been awarded by The AMS its elite Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal (CBM). For his outstanding coverage of weather, he has earned many awards over the years. These awards include; Winner Best Weathercast by Associated Press, Most Popular On-Air Newscaster. KIIS Radio, Winner of the Golden Mike Award for Best Weathercast in Southern California, Winner of Overall Excellence. LA Press Club, Best Weather Presenter/ World Competition. Raines earned an undergraduate degree in communications and earth science, and later took graduate-level courses in climatology. He enjoys chasing storms and over the years he has tracked numerous powerful tornadoes and storms across the Midwest in Tornado Alley. In addition, Dallas is a committed philanthropist who is concerned about the well-being, care, and interest of children. He enjoys reading to children and he wrote a book that introduces weather and geographic concepts to them that is known as Chester and The Hot Air Balloon.
During his downtime, he enjoys golfing, hiking, weightlifting, tennis, spending time with his family, and automobile road racing. He has his SCCA Regional License thus he can compete at The Willow Springs track. In addition, he has had the privilege of being a walk-on quarterback for FSU.
