Corey McPherrin Biography
Corey McPherrin is an American anchor working for FOX 32 as a weekday evening co-anchor of the 5 pm and 9 pm newscast alongside Dawn Hasbrouck. He joined the FOX 32 team in 1995.
Chicago’s south suburb is McPherrin’s native home and he always wanted to be a sportscaster in his hometown. He began his broadcasting career in 1977, in Davenport, Iowa. Corey also served as a sports broadcaster in New Orleans, Quincy, Atlanta, and Illinois. While he worked in Atlanta, he earned an Emmy award in 1984, for Outstanding News Performer” in the state of Georgia. Prior to working in Chicago, he served as a sportscaster for seven years at WABC-TV in New York from 1984 to 1991.
In addition, Corey also contributed to ABC Sports as a college football play-by-play announcer and reporter for the station’s sports anthology show known as Wide World of Sports. McPherrin relocated back to Chicago in 1991 and joined WBBM-TV where he served as a sports anchor and later in 1995, he joined FOX 32. Prior to taking up his current position at FOX 32, he served as the co-hosted the Bears pre-game show, Fox Kickoff Sunday. Furthermore, he was the sports anchor on Fox Chicago News at Nine and he hosted the Sunday night sports wrap-up show, The Final Word.
In addition, McPherrin has worked at FOX 32 Chicago for over thirty years and during this time, he has earned five Emmy awards. He attended Butler University where he graduated in 1977, and he is a former member of the school’s board of trustees. Furthermore, Corey received Butler’s Robert Todd Duncan alumni achievement award in 2002. The Sigma Chi Fraternity awarded Corey with its Significant Sig award for outstanding professional achievement.
