Colton Shone Biography
Colton Shone is an American three-time Emmy-winning anchor and reporter working for 3TV as a weekday morning co-anchor of Good Morning Arizona from 4:30 am to 6 am alongside Tess Rafols. He joined the Arizona Family in August 2022.
Prior to joining the Arizona Family, Shone worked in Albuquerque and Tucson where he served as an anchor and reporter. While he was in Albuquerque, he worked for KOB 4 as the co-anchor of the number one morning show for almost seven years and he also served as an investigative reporter. In addition, Colton was awarded three Emmy awards for this coverage of the Navajo Nation’s fight against COVID-19.
Colton’s coverage of the Navajo Nation’s fight against COVID-19 was a 30-minute documentary known as The People vs. The Pandemic. He is passionate about covering issues that affect Indian County and he is a member of the Navajo Nation. In addition, Shone extensively reported on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People crisis and culture and language revitalization efforts.
He has also worked for the CBS/FOX affiliate in Tucson as an anchor and reporter for a number of years. While still in college, he secured his first job at 92.3 KTAR-FM where he served as an anchor and reporter. Not long after, he joined CBS 5 in Phoenix and while he was at the station he served as a reporter. Furthermore, Shone attended Arizona State University where he studied at its Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He graduated from the University with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communication and journalism in 2011.
