Cindy Hsu Biography
Cindy Hsu is an American Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter working for CBS2 as a 9 a.m. anchor and regular fill-in anchor. She joined the CBS2 news team in 1993.
Hsu loves sharing stories on; animals, adoption, children, education, mental health awareness, and seniors. For stories such as Smuggled from China which exposed the horrific plights of Chinese refugees trying to make it to America, he earned Emmy awards. Her two-part series “Bringing Rosie Home,” was her most poignant story. For her series, she won the New York AP Broadcasters Award for Best Feature and earned an Emmy nomination.
Throughout the country, Cindy has served as a journalist including in; Green Bay, Ohio, Richmond, Wisconsin, Steubenville, and Virginia. The better part of her spare time is spent volunteering in the community as she is open about her struggle with depression, in hopes of breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health. In addition, Hsu is greatly involved in the Asian-American community and she has worked with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
A number of her past and present philanthropic affiliations include; The Asian Professional Exchange (APEX) which is a big brother/big sister program. In addition, she has also worked with; The Humane Society of New York, the Museum of Chinese in America, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and The Children’s Miracle Network. In addition, for many years, Cindy paddled on a championship Dragon Boating team known as Women in Canoe. She also served as President of the New York Chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association.
