Chuck Collins is an American meteorologist working for WEEK 25 as a Chief Meteorologist. He joined the WEEK 25 news team in October 2009, after previously working for WMBD.
Collins graduated high school in Herrin, Illinois and later on received a radio and TV degree from Lake Land College in Mattoon. He graduated from the Mississippi State University Broadcast Meteorology program. He began his professional journey at a modest 3,000-watt FM station in Sullivan, Illinois, during the summer of ’76. His inaugural paid broadcasting position marked the commencement of his enduring career on the air. Growing up in Marquette Heights, his fascination with weather, nurtured since childhood, fueled dreams of gracing the airwaves of Peoria radio and television.
Those dreams materialized, and he has been serving as the Chief Meteorologist at 25 News since October 2009, making the transition from WMBD where I dedicated 23 years. With a tenure of 46 years in local radio and TV, his weather career officially began in 1988. Recognition from the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association, in the form of broadcasting seals of approval, attests to his professional standing.
Moreover, he is a proud member of both organizations. Additionally, he is affiliated with the Illinois News Broadcaster’s Association and the Screen Actors Guild, & American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). Throughout his career, he has been honored with multiple Illinois Broadcaster’s Association “Silver Dome” awards for the best downstate television weather.
