Christine Killimayer is an American sports anchor and reporter working for WHNT as a weekday evening sports anchor at 4:00, 5:00, and 6:30 pm alongside news anchor Jerry Hayes. She joined WHNT in July 2010, after previously working for KTKA. 

Christine Killimayer Career

Latrobe, Pennsylvania is Christine’s native home and she attended Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism. In addition, while she studied at Ohio University, she became the first female sports director at WOUB-TV, which is a PBS affiliate serving 55 counties in four states. Killimayer also had the opportunity to work for ESPNU as a sideline reporter.

When Christine joined News 19, she was the station’s first female sports anchor and reporter. She has the opportunity to cover Auburn’s run to the 2011 BCS Championship and Alabama’s run to the 2012 BCS Championship. In addition, Killimayer builds relationships with many local high school and college athletes and coaches. After having worked at News 19 for two years, Killimayer took a short sabbatical and later returned to North Alabama’s News Leader in April 2014. She served as a multimedia journalist till she was promoted to the anchoring position in 2016.

Over the years, Christine has covered a wide range of events and issues impacting News 19 viewers from; the team name reveals for the Rocket City Trash Pandas, tornado outbreak, on April 27, 2011, to an award-winning suicide prevention special. Prior to relocating to Huntsville, Killimayer worked in Las Vegas, Nevada for Greenspun Media Group as a sports anchor and reporter. In addition, while she worked for Greenspun Media Group, she covered a vast variety of sports such as Floyd Mayweather Jr. fights and many Manny Pacquiao as well as many UFC events and UNLV basketball and football games.

Precedent to working in Las Vegas, Killimayer worked for KTKA in Topeka, Kansas as a sports anchor and reporter. While working for KTKA, she has the privilege to cover; the 2008 NCAA National Championship, the Jayhawks’ run to the 2008 Orange Bowl, and the University of Kansas. Over the years, Christine has received many honors and awards including several from the Alabama Broadcasters Association and the Alabama Associated Press Media Editors for News Anchor of the Year.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Nashville/Midsouth Chapter has also nominated Killimayer for multiple Emmys. During her sparer time, she loves working out (currently obsessed with OTF), cooking, going to concerts, ounging by various bodies of water, and rooting for her Bobcats, Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins.
