Christie Ileto is an American Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter working for 6ABC as an 11 p.m. anchor. She joined the 6ABC team in 2015, after previously working for WJZ.
While Ileto worked at WJZ-TV in Baltimore, Maryland where she served as a reporter. While she worked at WJZ-TV, she covered the arrest of Freddie Gray, who was a 25-year-old who passed away after he had a spinal injury while in police custody. In addition, Christie was also on the ground a few minutes before riots broke out following his funeral. She did a 12-hour live breaking news coverage of the unrest fueled by Freddie Gray’s death.
Before joining WJZ-TV, Ileto worked at WAFF in Huntsville, Alabama, and for KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she made an appearance on CNN. While on CNN, she presented breaking weather news to reveal how New Mexicans struggled with the barrage of inclement weather.
Furthermore, the Washington, DC metro area is Christie’s native home and she attended Northwestern University where she studied at its Medill School of Journalism and graduated proudly. In addition, she is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
