Christian Galeno is an American Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter working for Spectrum News 1 as a multimedia journalist. He joined the Spectrum News 1 news team in October 2022, after previously working for KGET-TV.
Christian Galeno Career
Galeno earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from California State University, Long Beach, and an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Los Angeles Trade Technical College. He began his journalism career at KYMA-TV (NBC/CBS) in Yuma, Arizona. There, he covered the the pandemic in America’s rural communities and the visits of former President Donald Trump, to the border. After that, Christian worked in Bakersfield, California, on KGET/Telemundo Valle Central as a multilingual reporter. He was honored with a Pacific Southwest Emmy Award and other national and regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for his reporting, which included the well-known Orrin and Orson West case.
In 2018, Galeno was selected as one of 12 journalism students from around the nation to participate in an intensive, week-long journalism fellowship sponsored by the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and WRAL TV in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area. At WRAL he produced, wrote, and booked interviews for news package stories and anchored the CBC/UNC Diversity Fellowship newscast. Working as a Program Assistant at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College’s Bridges to Success Center was a fulfilling job that gave Galeno the opportunity to support my classmates with whatever problems they had.
Galeno was in charge of taking care of general office tasks, such as returning calls and addressing inquiries from students who came to our center. In addition, Galeno was in charge of scheduling, registering, and presiding over the New Students, English as a Second Language, and Concurrent Enrollment orientations. He worked on the teams that created the A+C+O model at LATTC for orientation. He spent one year working as a reporter, host, and producer at College Beat Television, in Long Beach, California
