Chris Alvarez Biography
Chris Alvarez is an American sports anchor and reporter working for KGO as the weekend sports anchor and reporter. He joined the KGO sports team in August 2019, after previously working at ABC30 as the sports director and fill-in news anchor.
Chris Alvarez Education
Fresno is Alvarez’s native home and he studied at Clovis West High School where he earned a diploma. While he was at Clovis West High School, he was a team member of the baseball and basketball teams. In 2005, he then joined Fresno Pacific University, where he was part of the college baseball team. In addition, Chris also studied at California State University-Fresno where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication/ Media Studies in 2009.

Prior to working in San Francisco, he worked in Fresno where he worked at ABC30 and in Palm Springs at KESQ-TV where he was the sports director. He started his television career in May 2007, in Fresno, California where he worked at KMPH-TV for over 2 years. While he worked at KMPH-TV, he served as a sports and production assistant till July 2009, when he left the station. There on, in July 2009, Chris moved to San Francisco Bay Area to work at NBC Sports Bay Area and California, where he worked as an associate producer and field producer, for over 3 years till January 2013. During his time at NBC Sports, Chris covered the Bay Area’s biggest sporting athletes and events, hosted web videos and produced sports features.
Succeeding NBC Sports, in January 2013, he joined KESQ-TV and CBS Local 2 offices in Palm Springs California, where he worked as the Sports Director for over 2 years till July 2015. Alvarez later moved back to Fresno in California, to begin his job as the Sports Director, and fill-in news anchor at ABC30, where he worked from August 2015 to July 2019.
