Cheryl Lemke Biography
Cheryl Lemke is an American meteorologist working for Newschannel 20 as the Chief Meteorologist. Previously, she worked at WOWT-TV in Omaha where she also worked as a meteorologist.
In 1978, she attended Lowa State University where she graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. Later on, she joined the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she studied broadcasting and communications. In addition, she has also studied at Indiana State University where she continued studying education with an emphasis on broadcasting, and graduated in 1986.
Omaha, Nebraska is her native home. Before she joined WICS and WRSP, she worked at WOWT-TV in Omaha. She has also worked at WSBT-TV in South Bend, Indiana where she served as the Interim Chief Meteorologist. She has also worked at WXIA-TV in Atlanta and at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, Indiana. However, she has spent most of her broadcasting career at the The Weather Channel where she served as a meteorologist. Cheryl has covered a vast array of extreme weather phenomenaice including; storms, blizzards, thunderstorms, and land falling hurricanes. In addition, she holds the National Weather Association (NWA) Television Seals of Approval and the American Meteorological Society (AMS). Coming back to the Midwest makes her happy and she is enjoying the four seasons and the dynamic weather that Illinois has to offer. During her leisure time, she enjoys bicycling, hiking, and outside gardening.
