Chery Kang is a Korean-born Asian correspondent who is currently working at CNBC Hong Kong-based bureau. She covers the Asia-Pacific business news across all CNBC programming.

Over the years, she has covered a number of the region’s biggest news events such as; the impeachment of former South Korean President Park Geun-hye, the arrest of Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn scandal in 2018, the 2019 Hong Kong protests, the 2017 South Korean Presidential election, Trump-Kim Summits in Singapore and Hanoi, and the 2017 North Korea missile crisis.
In addition, she has had the privilege to interview a number of South Korea’s influential leaders like; Finance Hong Nam-ki, Kakao Bank CEO Yun Ho-young, Minister of Economy, and has covered some of the country’s biggest unicorns such as Yanolja and Kurly Corporation.
Furthermore, she also fronts K-Beat which is a CNBC weekly segment that headlines trends, issues, and ongoing debates in South Korea with the goal of giving viewers greater insight into Korean, politics, business, and culture.
Previously, she worked at Arirang TV in Seoul where she served as a prime-time anchor in charge of setting the day’s agenda for viewers. She has been in the journalism business for more than ten years and other the years, she has covered daily market news and in-depth reports throughout her career with SBS-CNBC and Arirang TV.

She attended HKUST-NYU where she graduated in 2018, Stern Masters of Science in Global Finance.
