Chelsea Ambriz is an American meteorologist working for NBC6 as a weekend morning meteorologist and climate change reporter. She joined the NBC 6 First Alert Weather team in August 2022.
Indianapolis, Indiana is where Ambriz was brought up and she attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. There she earned a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science and a Certificate of Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation. In addition, Chelsea also studied at the University of Denver in Colorado where she earned a Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Management with a concentration in Energy and Sustainability.
Prior to joining the NBC 6 news team, Ambriz worked for WeatherNation in Denver, Colorado where she served as a meteorologist for three years. Before that, Chelsea worked for WBBJ-TV in Jackson, Tennessee, and for WSAZ-TV in Huntington, West Virginia as a meteorologist. Furthermore, Chelsea enjoys residing in South Florida and she is an active member of the Junior League of Miami. As a member, Ambriz volunteers at the food banks, and women’s shelters, and fundraises for the community. Chelsea is passionate about keeping the environment healthy. During her spare time, she enjoys rollerblading, playing tennis, snowboarding, golfing, and spending as much time as she can with her cat, Oliver.
