Charly Edsitty is an American three-time Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter who is currently working at KTRK-TV.
Charly Edsitty Career
Athens, Alabama is his native home. He attended Troy University where he studied Broadcast Journalism, Music, and Theatre prior to also have a degree in Public Relations. Additionally, he was named the first Mr. Troy University Homecoming King and is a member of the school’s Alumni Association. Furthermore, he graduated at the top of his college class and was awarded the Sydney Sullivan Top Senior Award for academic excellence, forwardness in faith, and campus and community involvement.
After he had graduated, he began his television career at WTVM News Leader 9 in Columbus, Georgia where he worked for a period of two years. Later on, he joined CBS 47 and Fox 30 in Jacksonville, Florida where he served as a General Assignment and special projects reporter. In addition, for breaking a number of exclusive stories, such as landing a national exclusive with the “Hollywood Hacker,” Christopher Chaney who was arrested and only admitted to Chauncy to hacking into the email accounts of A-list celebrities earned a reputation.
Furthermore, he won a number of awards for his story “Chauncy’s Journey,” which featured him reuniting with his family in his hometown which had been devastated by tornadoes. In addition, he worked with viewers in Jacksonville to set up a trip to Athens, Alabama where they delivered food, clothes, household items, and even money to help rebuild a church.
In addition, he joined the WDIV Local 4 News team in Detroit, Michigan as a fill-in anchor and reporter in December 2011. Furthermore, while he was at the station, he covered the Sandy Hook Massacre in Newtown where he landed an exclusive interview with the teacher who was in the classroom next to the one where the massacre took place.
