Cecily Tynan is an American meteorologist working for 6 ABC as the chief meteorologist and she can be seen at 5, 6, and 11 pm. She joined the 6ABC team in October 1995 as a general assignment reporter and weekend weather anchor.
Connecticut is Tynan’s native home and she attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia where she graduated magna cum laude with a double major in Journalism and Politics. In addition, Cecily also studied meteorology at the American Meteorological Society where she earned a seal of approval. Prior to joining 6 ABC, Tynan worked at KTNV in Las Vegas, Nevada where she worked on Good Morning Las Vegas as a weather and news anchor.
Before joining KTNV, Cecily worked at WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia where she served as a general assignment reporter and weekend weather anchor. Furthermore, she has received a number of broadcast awards and honors over the years such as; “Best Weathercaster,” Las Vegas Review-Journal, and “Best On-Air Talent,” Las Vegas Electronic Media Awards. Cecily was named by the Philadelphia Weekly as the “Best Weathercaster” and by Philadelphia Magazine, as the “Best Weathervane.”
In addition, Ms. Tynan is a four-time former world-class professional duathlete and sub-3 hour marathoner. During the 2003 Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, she was a top ten age group finisher. Not long ago, she scaled her competitions to local charity races where she raised money for charities in the Delaware Valley. Furthermore, Cecily is a member of the Brandywine River Conservancy and Phi Beta Kappa.
