Bernal works for CNN as a National Correspondent and is based in the Los Angeles office. Bernal became a correspondent for CNN Newsource in 2018. She was the first person to provide live English and Spanish reports and digital material for CNN Newsource’s more than 1,000 local news partners. Bernal helped lead coverage of many major political stories while working in the network’s Washington, D.C. bureau. These included the trial to remove President Donald Trump, the 2020 election, the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and the confirmation hearings of several Supreme Court Justices.
When George Floyd died, Bernal covered the protests in Minneapolis. Later, he was in charge of Newsource’s coverage of Derek Chauvin’s trial from beginning to end. Bernal worked at KRON in San Francisco, California, before she went to CNN. Bernal also worked at KEYE-TV as a Telemundo Austin Reporter in Austin, Texas Area from 2015 to September 2017. She has reported and been a reporter for KMID Local 2 News in Midland, Texas, from January 2014 to August 2015. She also worked at NBC Latino as a Weekend Web Producer and a Producer-Digital Connections in Miramar, Florida.
