Brian Monahan Biography
Brian Monahan is an American meteorologist working for WSB-TV as a weekday noon and morning meteorologist a position he took up in January 2019. He joined the WSB team in September 2014, as the weekend morning and noon meteorologist.
Brian Monahan Career
Monahan was brought up in southern New Jersey, near Philadelphia and since his childhood days, he has been interested in weather. He was also interested in television during his childhood days and when he was 10 years old, he would get up at 6 a, to watch the news thus he would later combine his two interests and make a career. In addition, he attended Penn State University where he studied meteorology and earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree.
Furthermore, while Briam was in college, he worked at WYOU and WBRE in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania. After he graduated, he relocated to ort Myers, Florida where he worked at WINK as a weekday morning meteorologist for five years. He then worked for WFTV in Orlando as a weekend evening meteorologist for two years. In addition, while working in Orlando, he filled in a number of times on the weekend editions of Good Morning America. He then worked at KIRO as a weekday morning and noon meteorologist for two years.
For most of Monahan’s career, he has been a resident in the southeast and for a number of years, he has been part of the Severe Weather Team 2’s coverage of the hugest weather events that his north Georgia. While working for Channel 2 Action News, he has traveled across the country reporting on storms that have left indelible marks on our memories.
In addition, he covered the Boston historic winter storms in 2015, which dropped a number of feet of snow in weeks thus crippling that region and having rippled across southwest Georgia. Later in October, Brian covered Hurricane Matthews razor thin pass off the central Florida coast as a major hurricane. Furthermore, he reported on the historic flooding in Houston for a week in 2017, as Harvey’s rains inundated that area. Brian witnessed the impact a stalled tropical system can have in 2018 when he covered Hurricane Florence in North Carolina.
Aside from Brian’s love for the weather, he is a huge sports fan, precisely college sports. For the last couple of years, he has attended a number of games “Between the Hedges” and he loves residing in an area where college football is king. Monahan is also interested in politics and fitness. He is also a huge animal lover and has two dogs that keep him busy; a chocolate lab named Jackson and a boxer named Bella.
