Brian Curtis Biography
Brian Curtis is an American anchor working for NBC 5 as a weekday evening anchor at 6 pm and 10 pm. He joined the NBC 5 news team in January 2003, after previously working for KCTV 5.
Brian was brought up in Connecticut and Rhode Island. He attended Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut where he earned a high school degree. Later on, he joined Emory University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He also studied at the University of Missouri School of Journalism where he earned a Master of Arts degree
Curtis has served as a journalist for 25 years and during this time, he has won many Lone Star Emmy Awards. He has also been honored by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters a number of times as the best news anchor in Texas. While working for NBC 5, Brian covered a number of major news stories such as; the loss of Space Shuttle Columbia, the tornado outbreak of 2012, and the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas. He was also among the panelists for the Texas gubernatorial debates in 2014.
Furthermore, Curtis has covered the Olympics in Rio, Beijing, Pyeongchang, London, Athens, and Torino. He has also covered the World Series and the Super Bowl. Brian is very passionate about NBC 5’s “Clear The Shelters” project, which finds homes for animals in DFW-area shelters.
