Brett Shipp is an American anchor working for Spectrum News 1 as an anchor and reporter. He joined the Spectrum News 1 team in July 2020, after previously working for WFAA.
Texas is Shipp’s native home and he attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in 1983. He is among the most decorated journalists in the country. Over the years, he has earned; three Columbia University duPont Batons, three George Foster Peabody Awards, a number of Edward R Murrows, and many Emmy awards.
In addition, Brett has covered many impactful stories and he covered the 9/11 attack including the morning of the attack on the Shipp. He covered the two co-workers who drove straight to New York City. He also spends the next 8 days covering the aftermath and the emotions of the horrific attack.
