Bob Donaldson is an American anchor working for CBS4 as a weekly evening anchor at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. He joined the CBS4 news team in 2015, after previously working for FOX59.
Bob Donaldson Career
Donaldson has been at the center of news coverage in central Indiana for almost thirty years and he began his journalism career long before he even earned his college degree. He started his journalism career at KOMU in Columbia, Missouri where he served as the City Government Reporter, the Assignment Editor, and the Weekend 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. news anchor while he was still studying at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. In addition, he later relocated to Beaumont, Texas where he worked for KFDM as a reporter for two years. Bob left KFDM and joined KTVY in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he served as a sports reporter while he was at the station, he won a first-place award in 1985 for Spot News Reporting from Sigma.
Furthermore, Donaldson also worked in Salt Lake City, Utah from 1987, at KUTV as a Special Projects Reporter and Environmental Reporter. After having worked in the Intermountain West for 2 years, he relocated back to Oklahoma City where he served as a weekend anchor and while he was there, he was honored with a UPI Tri-State Individual Reporting Achievement Award. Donaldson also worked at KARK in Little Rock, Arkansas as a weekday anchor, and later in 1991, he was selected to serve as the lead anchor for the 10 pm newscast in Indianapolis at WXIN FOX59. For his contribution, WXIN became the “Fox Station of the Year” both in 1992 and again in 1994.
Aside from his work as an anchor, he has also produced Emmy-award-winning documentaries and special reporter while working at FOX59. He was also at the front line of the effort to transform FOX59 into one of the most dominant Fox affiliates in the country. In addition, Bob assisted in launching the highly-rated FOX59 News First at Four, which led to the station’s expansion at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m. For a short while, Donaldson served as FOX59 Interim News Director till recently when he served as the newsroom’s Managing Editor as well.
In 2015, Bob lead WTTV’s new news team while also continuing with his anchoring duties on FOX59 News at 10 and also taking up the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts on the new CBS4. Bob’s efforts surpassed expectations and made the launch of CBS4 Indy a resounding success while also maintaining the high ratings of FOX59. Furthermore, Donaldson continued his dual anchoring role on the two stations for a year before later exiting FOX59 News at 10 to focus solely on the evening newscasts on CBS4.

Over the years, Bob has received numerous recognition for his volunteer work for groups like; Habitat for Humanity, the Children’s Bureau, College Mentors for Kids, the Center for Leadership Development, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. As of the moment, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Indianapolis Chapter of the National Kidney Foundation.
