Ben Higgins Biography
Ben Higgins is an American sports director and radio host who is currently working at ABC 10 where he served as a sports director. He is also the radio host of BenAndWoods which airs on weekdays from 6 am to 10 am on 97.3 The Fan. In addition, he joined the ABC 10 team in 2002.
He attended Torrey Pines High School where he graduated proudly and he is a die-hard sports one of his memorable games was attending Game 5 of the NLCS at Jack Murphy Stadium. He also got to see the Cubs beaten by the Padres to advance to their first World Series. Higgins attended Pomona College and in 1997, he joined XTRA Sports 690 radio. In addition, he worked at AM 600 KOGO where he served as the co-host of Post-Game Shows and San Diego Padres Pre.
In 2003, he showed off his play-by-play skills during Spring Training and he worked alongside the legendary Jerry Coleman. When he joined the ABC 10 team in 2002, he was part of the special coverage leading up to Super Bowl XXXVII at Qualcomm Stadium. In addition, he has served as the host of a number of 10News specials including four trips to Williamsport, Pennsylvania where he covered the Little League World Series in 2005 and 2009, 2013, and 2015.
Furthermore, one of his all-time favorite stories includes covering the championship team from Park View Little League in Chula Vista. Ben also serves as the co-host of Ben and Woods on the Padre’s flagship station, 97.3 The Fan. Prior to serving as the host of Ben and Woods, he served as the host of sports-talk radio shows on XTRA Sports 1360 and The Mighty 1090. In addition, he has also served as the radio play-by-play voices voices for SDSU baseball, USD basketball, and USD football. During his free time, he enjoys carrying a single-digit handicap and playing golf.
