Ayanna Jeanene Andrews Biography
Ayanna Jeanene Andrews is an American professional softball player with the Akron Racers of National Pro Fastpitch working for MLB as a host of the Saturday morning show Play Ball at 10 a.m. ET. She joined the MLB news team in 2021, after previously working for LSU Softball.
Andrews started playing for Countryside High School in Clearwater, Florida and she was named Pinellas County Player of the Year. She not only played college softball for the LSU Lady Tigers but also participated in the Women’s College World Series. Later on, she graduated from LSU in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration. She later pursued her Master’s degree in Mass Communication/Broadcast Journalism the following year.
She was selected by the Chicago Bandits of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) in the second round of the 2015 NFP Draft. After the 2015 season, she was traded to the Akron Racers. In 2016, Andrews became the first woman to win a Rawlings Gold Glove Award. She was also a co-winner of the Rally Spike Award as the league’s stolen base leader. She was a color analyst in 2017 at LSU Softball. Here, she provided elaborate details of action development, outlined gameplay predictions and athlete production, critiqued and explained player performances and conducted analyses to promote interest and viewership of WCWS.
Hosting conversations with athletes who are at the top of their game to reveal how they reached the highest level of success at Draft Kings Inc. was an endeavor she has undertaken from 2020 to date. In addition, she also hosted the current Saturday morning MLB Network show, Play Ball from 2021 to date.
