Araksya Karapetyan is an Armenian-born American anchor who is currently working at KTTV. She serves as the co-anchor of Good Day LA which airs from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. alongside Tony McEwing. In addition, she joined the FOX 11 team in March 2012.
Araksya Karapetyan Career
Armenia is her native home and she relocated to the United States when she was seven years old. After a devastating earthquake, a brewing conflict with Azerbaijan, and the demise of the Soviet Union contributed to her family’s decision to leave their homeland. She was brought up in Palos Verdes Estates.
In addition, she has worked at KOIN-TV in Portland, Oregon where she served as a general assignment reporter and fill-in host. Karapetyan has worked at KIDK-TV in Idaho Falls where she served as a producer, reporter, and anchor.
Furthermore, she started her television career at KABC-TV in Los Angeles and KFI 640 AM radio in Burbank where she served as an intern. She gained her interest in journalism after she went back for a summer visit to Armenia. While she was in Armenia, she explored to see what everyday life was like for the majority.
Araksya attended Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations and Broadcast Journalism. In addition, she is eloquent in English, and Armenian and can speak conversational Spanish and Russian.
