Anthony Everett Biography
Anthony Everett is an American Emmy award-winning anchor working for WCVB as the anchor of the nightly news magazine, Chronicle. He joined the WCVB news team in 1990.
Anthony Everett Career
In addition, Everett began working at NewsCenter 5 in 1990, while serving as a general assignment reporter. Before he joined the Channel 5 team, he worked at WVIT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Hartford, CT. While working for WVIT-TV, he served as a general assignment reporter and weekday anchor at 6 pm and 11 pm.
Furthermore, Anthony started his broadcasting career in 1984, at KSPN-TV in Aspen, Colorado as a sports anchor and reporter. Not long after he became the news director till 1987, when he left the station. He attended Tufts University in Medford, MA where he graduated proudly and he is currently a guest lecturer at the University in their Film and Media Studies Program.
Over the years Everett has been actively involved in the community and he has worked with organizations such as; the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Derby Academy, Habitat for Humanity, the Boston Ballet, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Home for Little Wanderers, the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, and Boston Healthcare for the Homeless. For being a longtime volunteer, advocate, and board member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, he as been honored with the Public Education Award in 1992, and in 2006 received one of the Society’s highest honors, the Partners in Progress Award.
Over the years Everette has received many Emmy awards including a 2016 Emmy for his reporting on Education and for reporting on the high incidence of cancer among Boston Firefighters. He also received an Emmy in 2015, for reporting on Alzheimer’s as a societal concern. Anthony hosted a special on “Holiday Lights” in 2015 and the Boston Pops 125th anniversary in 2011, for which he received an Emmy.
In addition, Anthony also received Emmys in 2010, for hosting Chronicle, in 2009, for reporting on the recycling industry, and in 2018, for reporting on special education. For reporting on Health and Science, Everett received a first-place National Headliner award in 2015. Furthermore, he was named by The Improper Bostonian magazine as Chronicle Boston’s Best Local TV Program in 2010.
While working at WCVB Anthony has served as a senior correspondent for breaking news and major national events. On regular occasions, he has contributed to special reports for all WCVB newscasts. Anthony’s outstanding skills in reporting he has earned many awards such as; the National Headliner Award for Breaking News in 2003, the Associated Press Awards for Investigative Reporting and Documentary Reporting in 2012, and the Edward R. Murrow Awards for News Series and News Documentary in 2013.
