Ann Sanders Biography

Ann Sanders is an Australian anchor working for 7News as the anchor of Seven Morning News and Seven Afternoon News Sydney. She re-joined the 7News team in 1988, after previously working for Network Ten. 

Sanders is a renowned journalist who has over 30 years of experience during this time, she has reported in a number of the country’s biggest news events. She celebrated her 30th anniversary with Seven Network in 2017. Ann was present in Thredbo at the scene of the landslide disaster that took place in 1997. For covering the landslide, she took a Logie Award on behalf of the 7NEWS team. In addition, she has also covered; the Princess of Wales in London, the funeral of Diana, the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, the Waterfall train disaster, the Port Arthur massacre in Tasmania, and many Federal and State elections.

In 1990, she traveled to Chornobyl where she reported on the radiation fall-out disaster. For Ann’s stories, many people were inspired to fundraise appeals that assisted hundreds of children and their families. Sanders was named the host of the successful crime-fighting show Australia’s Most Wanted in 1993, and while hosting the show, she also continued her role on 11 AM. Furthermore, she took up the weekday anchor on 7NEWS Sydney’s nightly bulletin two years later and in 1998, Ross Symonds joined her.

Sanders started her V and for a short time, she worked for 7NEWS in Adelaide. In 1983, she relocated to Sydney where she worked for Channel Ten as an anchor and reporter before she rejoined 7News in 1988. During her career as a journalist, she earned two Logie Awards and won the Most Popular Television Personality award. The Better Hearing Association also awarded her a Clear Speech Award.
