Anita Padilla is an American anchor working for FOX 32 as a morning co-anchor of Good Day Chicago. She joined the Fox 32 team in May 2007, after previously working for NBCU.
Padilla was brought up in Waukegan and she would watch the news with her father. She always hoped to one day work in the media industry in Orlando, Chicago, the Quad-Cities, and New York City. For her education, she attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism in 1986. In addition, she also attended Columbia College Chicago where she studied broadcast journalism and graduated in 1991.
After having graduated, Anita began her career at Fox where she served as a reporter for a period of two years. Later on, she relocated from New York to Chicago where she worked at NBCU for a decade as a weekend morning anchor and reporter till 2007, when she left the station. Over the years, Padilla has covered so many stories including; political scandals in Illinois that cost governors and congressmen their jobs and went to prison. In addition, she covered the election of Barack Obama prior to him even becoming America’s President. She also had the opportunity to interview Mayors Richard J. Daley and Rudy Guiliani.
Furthermore, Padilla was present during the TWA Flight 800 exploded in Long Island and she reported on the deaths of; Frank Sinatra, Tupac Shakur, Dean Martin, and Biggie Smalls. She has also witnessed shark attack victims pulled from the water and told a number of the most unthinkable crime stories in Florida. In addition, she has interviewed celebrities such as; Halle Berry, Mia Hamm, Shirley Jones, Mariah Carey, Minnie Driver, Anita Baker, Muhammad Ali, Hillary Clinton, Buddy Guy, Gladys Knight, and many more.
