Amber Lee is an American Meteorologist who is currently working at KCAL9. She joined the CBS 2 news team in September 2012, after previously working for KOAT-TV.
Southern California is her native home. She previously worked at r KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she served as a fill-in meteorologist and reporter for a period of three years. For her coverage of one of the worst droughts in state history, she was recognized by the New Mexico Farm and Livestock Bureau as “Reporter of the Year” in 2011. hundreds of ranchers who bought insurance through the government and were then denied claims were interested in her reporting.
Her career in journalism began at KCBY-TV in Coos Bay, Oregon, and in addition to her working at Albuquerque, she also worked at KSBY-TV in San Luis Obispo. She attended the Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut where she earned a master’s degree in journalism, and also attended the California State University in Northridge, California where she attained a bachelor’s degree in communication studies
Furthermore, she was able to earn a certificate in meteorology through Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology Program. For “Best Weather Segment” she won a Golden Mike’ from the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California in 2019. During her leisure time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and exploring the outdoors.
