Amanda VanAllen Biography
Amanda VanAllen is an American three-time Emmy award-winning anchor working for PHL17 as a weekday morning anchor from 5 am to 9 am. She joined the PHL17 news team in April 2021, after previously working for WEWS-TV.
Prior to working for PHL17, Amanda was in Cleveland, Ohio where she served as an anchor and reporter for three years at WEWS-TV. While working at WEWS-TV, Amanda worked alongside her co-anchor Nick Foley. In addition, Chicago is VanAllen’s native home and she attended Roycemore School where she earned a high school diploma in 2005. Later on, Amanda joined Oberlin College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies and English in 2009. In addition, VanAllen later attended New York University where she earned a Master of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and reporting.
Prior to graduating, Amanda interned at WTTW in Chicago and at Black Entertainment Television where she interned in the news department. Later on, VanAllen worked for CNN where she interned on the “In America” unit alongside Soledad O’Brien. In addition, Amanda has also worked for ABC where she was a news associate on Good Morning America. Not long after, VanAllen also became a reporter/digital journalist for ABC for three years.
Furthermore, she also worked for RNN-TV in Long Island where she served as a reporter for almost 2 years. For 2 years, Amanda worked for WFMZ-TV as a reporter and also served in the same position at WEWS-TV in Cleveland/Akron, Ohio. In addition, Amanda’s leisure time is spent; hitting up wineries, hiking, and forcing her wife to do Groupon adventures with her.
