Allen Devlin Biography
Allen Devlin is an American anchor and reporter working for CBS46 as a weekday evening anchor at 3:30 pm, 5 pm, and 10 pm. He joined the Atlanta News First News Team in July of 2021 as a breaking news anchor and general assignment Reporter.
Prior to joining WGCL, he worked for WYFF News 4, the NBC affiliate in Greenville, South Carolina where he served as a general assignment reporter for two years. While he worked at WYFF, he reported on several storied such as; the impact of George Floyd’s death on the AME Church, Joe Biden’s campaign trail through the Upstate, the death of James “Radio” Kennedy, the fight to lower violent crime rates across Anderson County, the aftermath of the 2016 Townville Elementary School fatal shooting, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on African Americans across South Carolina. In addition, he also secured the only interview with the parents of the late Chadwick Boseman concerning his battle with colon cancer and subsequent passing.
Furthermore, he was also nominated for an Emmy award for his continued coverage of an EF3 Tornado that tore through the small South Carolina Town of Seneca. While he was in New York, he covered the rising homeless rates in the city and the introduction of congestion pricing in Manhattan. Devlin was awarded by Columbia University with the duPont/Judy F. Crichton Award for Video Journalism for his story on the lack of accessibility within the city’s public transportation after his graduation in May 2019
In addition, Allen was awarded by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with two Student Emmy awards. The South Carolina Society of Professional Journalists awarded him with the Mark of Excellence award. He also worked on the 2016 Presidential Campaign with CNN and he lent a hand in the Republican and Democratic Town Halls in Columbia, South Carolina in February of 2016, while he was at UofSC. Furthermore, Devlin’s an Atlanta native and he is happy to be working in his native home.
