Alicia Loxley is an Australian anchor working for Nine News Australia as a reporter and anchor for the weekend 4 pm news. She joined the 9 News team in Jun 2008 after previously working for Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Alicia Loxley Career

Loxley began her career in 2007 at ABC Radio, which took her to Perth for 5 years, where she became the lead anchor for ABC TV News. In addition, she also hosted the State-wide Drive program on ABC Local Radio. She presented her first ABC News bulletin in late 2003 and in 2005 she was appointed to the position of weekend news presenter on ABC News in Western Australia. In February 2006 she replaced Paul Lockyer as a weeknight presenter of ABC News in Western Australia.

Furthermore, she took on a new role at ABC Radio in mid-2007 where she hosted the statewide regional drive program on ABC local radio. Later, she returned to Melbourne as a reporter for 9 News after resigning in May 2008. Here, she filled in as presenter of Nine Afternoon News and Nine Late News in October 2009. Loxley again relocated to Sydney to join the Today Show team in June 2010 where she replaced Amber Sherlock on Weekend Today as news presenter and was also the Monday news presenter on Today, as Georgie Gardner presents Nine News Sydney on Friday and Saturday.

She regularly hosted the Today Show and was a reporter for Channel 9’s Inside Story. Loxley has had a box seat to the biggest news stories of the past decade. Additionally, she led Channel 9’s Black Saturday bushfire coverage in 2009, was a key member of the network’s Olympics team in London, and co-hosted Victoria Decides 2014 and 2018. It was later announced that Loxley would replace Jo Hall as weekend presenter on Nine News Melbourne with Hall scaling back her commitments with the Nine Network in November 2011.

In November 2023, it was announced that Loxley and Tom Steinfort would replace Peter Hitchener to present on weeknights and Hitchener will move to weekends from January 2024. In addition to all this, Loxley is an ambassador for the Lighthouse Foundation and My Room Children’s Cancer Charity. She achieved all this after attending Loyola College in 1994, then later attended Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar in 1999. Finally, she graduated from RMIT University with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Journalism in 2002.
