Alex Stockwell is an American Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter working for Spectrum News as a morning news anchor. She joined the Spectrum News team in January 2018.
Stockwell was born in San Antonio and brought up in New Braunfels. She attended The University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2013. She started her career in journalism in McAllen, Texas at the NBC affiliate station. While she was there, she did a number of stories on the immigration crisis. later on, she returned to her hometown and joined Spectrum News 1 as a multimedia journalist.
In addition, while Alex served as a reporter, she has covered a number of major events such as; SXSW, the ongoing Rodney Reed case, and the 2018 Austin bombings. Upon joining Spectrum News 1, Stockwell served as an anchor and fill-ed in on weekend evening newscasts. For her coverage of the 2021 Texas Winter Storm, she was awarded a Lone Star Emmy Award together with her morning team. During Stockwell’s leisure time, she enjoys exploring new places and traveling.
