Kaufman County is where he was born and later brought up in Gun Barrel City. He attended the University of North Texas in Denton where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism and political science in 2011. Later in 2012, Agustin began his career in journalist at KBMT-TV in Beaumont, Texas. While he worked at KBMT-TV he earned a Lone Star Emmy for Best Reporter from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
