Darlene Rodriguez is an American multiple Emmy-winning anchor working for NBC 4, as the co-anchor of Today which airs on weekdays from 4 am to 7 am. She joined the Today in New York news team in July 2003.

Rodriguez is among the well-known local broadcast journalists in New York and she has deep roots in the community. For over 20 years, Darlene has been trusted by NBC 4 New York viewers for her expertise and professionalism. She has served as the co-anchor of Today in New York for over 15 years. Following Hurricane Maria in 2017, Darlene is among the first Tri-State broadcast journalists who visited Puerto Rico where she reported the relief and recovery efforts for a week.
Furthermore, she returned to Puerto Rico a year after Hurricane Maria struck to chronicle the rebuilding, recovery process and interview important elected officials and community leaders. In 2018, Rodriguez was awarded by the National Hispanic Media Coalition with a coveted Impact Award for “Excellence in Broadcast Journalism”. For the last 20 years, Darlene has worked in NBC 4, and while at the station, she has covered numerous memorable stories.
A number of the stories Rodriguez has covered include; the crash of Flight 587 in Queens, the 9/11 attacks, the police shooting of Amadou Diallo in 1999, and while en route to the Dominican Republic. She was also the first Tri-State television reporter during the scene in Vieques, Puerto Rico after the clashes between residents and the U.S. Navy. For four-time, Rodriguez returned to cover the resulting developments.
Furthermore, Darlene traveled to Rome where he covered the meeting between Pope John Paul II and U.S. Cardinals in the Catholic Church’s scandal. She also covered Pope Francis’ visit to Cuba in 2015, and her reporting from Cuba earned her a New York Emmy nomination. In addition, Rodriguez has received recognition for her devotion to journalistic excellence and community service on many occasions.
In 2011, Rodriguez was awarded by the El Diario La Prensa with a “Mujeres Destacadas (Distinguished Women) Award.” The Hispanic Magazine also awarded her in 2000, for her coverage of the Hispanic community with a “Latina Excellence” Award. In addition, Rodriguez has received many awards from; the NYPD’s Hispanic Society, and the New York Police Department. Furthermore, she has been honored by the City of New York, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bronx Borough President, and the City of White Plains for prominently.
She is also actively involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley. She is also a huge supporter of the Cristian Rivera Foundation, which is an organization that is devoted to finding a cure for a rare fatal brain tumor in young children. Darlene is also a co-chair for WNBC’s yearly Supporting the American Heart Association of Westchester and the New York Urban League.
