Bruce Beck is an American sports anchor working for NBC 4 as the lead sports anchor and host of the Sunday night sports show “Sports Final.” He also served as the sideline reporter for New York Giants pre-season football.

Over the years, Beck has covered many events for NBC 4 inclusive of; seven World Series, the U.S. Open Tennis Championship, the NCAA Final Four, the New York City Marathon, the U.S. Open Golf Championship, six Super Bowls, the Stanley Cup Final, the NBA Finals, the Kentucky Derby, the 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020 Olympic Games. At MetLife Stadium, he served as the co-host of WNJU and WNBC’s annual Health and Fitness Expo.
In addition, Beck served as the host of WNBC-TV’s coverage of the ING New York City Marathon. He did also serve as the host of The Rutgers Report alongside Coach Greg Schiano and host of Toyota Giants Report alongside Coach Tom Coughlin. Over the years, he has also served as the host and contributor of several WNBC-TV specials such as; the U.S. Open Golf Championship, The Belmont Stakes, the Stanley Cup Final, and “Glory Days,” that preceded New York Yankees postseason games. He has also served as the host of the All-State Sports Update and the Sun America Sports Desk for NBC Sports.
Furthermore, for the last 25 years years, Beck has been serving as the host of Rutgers University athletics programming. As of the moment, he serves as the host of A Slice of Knightlife and Knightlife on their online component, ScarletKnights.com. From 1994 to 1997 Bruce worked for CN8, the Comcast Network as the host of “Sportstalk and “Sports Images ” and from 2000 to 2008, Bruce worked for NBA TV as a studio anchor.
In addition, he worked at MSG Network from 1982 to 1994, and while he was at the station, he served as host of the coverage of the Rangers, Knicks, and Yankees. Bruce served as the play-by-play announcer for college basketball and football, professional tennis, and professional Golden Gloves boxing. Furthermore, he has served as the host of the Virginia Slims Championship, the Lou Carnesecca Show, the Millrose Games, and the National Horse Show. In 2017, Bruce launched the Bruce Beck Sports Broadcasting Camp in New Rochelle, New York.
Beck was selected to deliver the commencement speech by St. John’s University to its Staten Island Campus in May 2009, and an Honorary Doctor of Letters Degree was presented to him. He attended Ithaca College where he graduated in 1978, with a Bachelor of Science degree. For more than 20 years, Bruce and his family, have been serving the needy at the St. John’s Bread and Life Program, which is the largest soup kitchen in Brooklyn.
In addition, he has also been involved with other charity organizations such as; Westchester Medical Center, Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation, the March of Dimes, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Westchester SPCA and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley, the Alan T. Brown Foundation to Cure Paralysis, White Plains Hospital, Children’s Aid Society, Children’s Aid Society, the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation, and Special Olympics New York.

Broadcasting & Cable Magazine named Beck as the 2021 National Sports Anchor of the Year for his top local sports anchor in America. For Beck’s interview with former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand, he was awarded a 2011 New York Sports Emmy. In 1999, Bruce was awarded a New York Emmy Award for outstanding On-Camera Achievement in Sports Reporting. Later in 2005, he was also awarded a New York Emmy for Outstanding Sports Anchor. In addition, he has received a total of two Mid-Atlantic Sports Emmys, eight New York Sports Emmys, and three national Cable Ace Awards.
The National Sports Media Association has also named Bruce as the New York State Sportscaster of the Year for 9 times including six consecutive times from 2007 through 2012. His alma mater, Ithaca College awarded him for his Excellence in Journalism with the Jessica Savitch Award of Distinction in March 2017.
