Dennis de la Peña is an American sports anchor and reporter working for FOX 7 as weekdays sports anchor and reporter at 5, 6, 9, and 10 p.m. He joined the FOX 7 Austin team in 1999.
Peña started his career while he was at the University of Texas and he worked at KTSB Radio. He also did an extended internship at KXAN-TV and his first media job was at KAMR-TV in Amarillo where he served as the weekend sports anchor in 1994 before later being promoted to the sports director position. In addition, he has also assisted in building homes for the poverty-stricken and received a “Difference Maker” award for community service in the Panhandle area.
Furthermore, Dennis has spoken in Austin at schools and colleges while serving as an emcee at banquets and various sporting events around town. He also joined a discussion on the week’s big sports stories on The Morning X that is hosted by Deb Fridays and Jason.
